BigFix, Inc. closes $8.4 million venture funding round

Dec 5, 2005 – New Investment Targets International Expansion, Sales and Marketing Coverage

Emeryville, Calif. — BigFix, a leading provider of enterprise security configuration management solutions, has secured $8.4 million in equity capital through a new round of venture funding. The venture funding round was led by Thomas Weisel Venture Partners (www.twvp.com), with participation from existing investors Levensohn Partners (www.levp.com), Selby Venture Partners (www.selbyventures.com) and Split Rock Partners (www.splitrock.com). The new investment will primarily support BigFix plans to expand and deepen its worldwide market coverage, increase marketing initiatives and extend sales capabilities. In connection with the investment round, Rob Born, of Thomas Weisel Venture Partners, will join the BigFix board of directors. BigFix recently appointed Rhonda Hocker, CIO of BEA Systems, to its board of directors.

Dave Robbins, president and CEO of BigFix said: “The new capital sets the stage for BigFix to become the next great company in the enterprise software market. We already have superior technology, enthusiastic customers, a 300 percent per annum revenue growth rate, and a reputation as the company to watch in the security configuration management arena. The new capital gives us the fuel to execute on a break-out strategy that will dramatically increase our marketing and sales reach throughout the Americas, EMEA and Asia Pacific regions.”

Rob Born, newly elected to the BigFix board of directors said: “We invested in BigFix because the company offers a suite of security and configuration solutions beyond patch management — solutions that allow customers to get real-time visibility into the nature of their computing assets. The company’s track record of winning 100,000-plus seat deals against well-known, incumbent systems management players is convincing proof that the scalability, speed and flexibility of BigFix’s unique architecture resonates with customers.”
