Spanlink Separates Products and Services Businesses

Feb 20, 2007– Minneapolis, MN – Spanlink Communications, Inc. a leading provider of contact center and business communications solutions based on VoIP technologies, today announced that it has split the company into two separate divisions in order to sharpen its focus on the growing market opportunities for each business. The Spanlink Communications division will maintain focus on selling, delivering and supporting unified communications solutions, while a newly formed division, called Calabrio Software, will focus on software product development and distribution. The division is effective immediately.

“Spanlink has earned a best in class reputation in the marketplace for our contact center and VoIP products and services, but the market demands of products and services companies are not always consistent,” said Spanlink CEO and founder Brett Shockley. “Dividing the company will allow each entity to respond more effectively to the needs of its customers, channels and partners.”

Calabrio Software develops and markets software products that are designed for customer interaction networks. The focus of the Calabrio Software team is to build upon its footprint of 400,000 installed desktops. Calabrio products include Calabrio Quality Management (formerly Spanlink Quality Management); Calabrio Workforce Management; Calabrio business management products; as well as key Agent/Supervisor Desktop applications which are distributed through Cisco Systems, Inc.

A primarily channel-focused sales force is responsible for partner recruitment and distribution for Calabrio Software and will actively pursue leading channel partners who can combine Calabrio’s leading products with their market insight and service delivery capabilities.

“Calabrio Software is tooled to build on its current market leadership for unified desktop products in customer interaction networks,” said Sheryl Kingstone, director of Yankee Group’s Enterprise Research group. “The move positions Calabrio Software to scale its business and penetrate additional markets through channels.”

Spanlink Communications continues to focus on the sale, delivery and support of customer interaction and unified communications solutions built on VoIP technologies, with plans to expand and deepen its offerings within unified communications. Spanlink includes direct sales representatives across the U.S., Canada and the UK.

“Both divisions have important roles in Cisco’s ecosystem,” said Laurent Philonenko, vice president and general manager of Cisco’s Customer Contact Business Unit (CCBU). “We look forward to leveraging the efforts of Calabrio Software to assist us and our channel partners to further develop and deploy application-based solutions for our customers.”
